In April 2024 the law changed so you can now see a psychiatrist or paediatrician anywhere in Australia. Scripts can now be filled across state borders. Previously you could only get a script from a specialist in your state and have it filled in your state. Now, you can get a script written from anywhere in Australia using telehealth platforms and have it filled. This opens up much more opportunity to get in to see someone sooner. Waitlists may be shorter in other states. If your main goal is to access medication, you may wish to go directly to a paediatrician or psychiatrist.
